Americans have been given an ultimatum…

Defund the Police or Defend the Police

We’ve been asked to choose a side, but that’s impossible to do when neither choice is the right answer. Defunding police is absurd, and there’s no way that you can Defend ALL police.

Yes, there is a small percentage of bad police. Former FBI Director James Comey and his gang of corrupt cops prove that beyond a shadow of a doubt. However, chanting and holding up signs declaring “ACAB” (all cops are bastards or all cops are bad) is simply ridiculous.

As foolish as that sounds, it’s not a joking matter especially since over 700 federal, state, and local law enforcement officers across our nation have been injured as a result of riots and lawlessness. This includes Las Vegas Officer Shay K. Mikalonis, who was shot in the head during a protest. Officer Mikalonis is paralyzed from the neck down, on a ventilator, and unable to speak.

Not included in this total are these two law enforcement officers that were murdered…

Patrick Underwood, a federal officer Department of Homeland Security, was shot and killed while guarding the Ronald V. Dellums Federal Building in Oakland when a van pulled up and someone opened fire.

David Dorn, a retired police captain was killed in St. Louis while protecting a friend’s pawnshop from looters. Someone live streamed his final moments on Facebook as he laid dying on the sidewalk with no one rendering aid.

Not that it makes a difference, but both of these officers were black, which begs the question, “Why didn’t their black lives matter?”

While trying to protect the lives of American citizens and keep the peace during the recent protests and riots, police officers have been hit with bottles, bricks, Molotov cocktails, traffic cones, skateboards, and just about anything else you can think of. They’ve been shot at, stabbed, physically attacked, and even ran over by vehicles.

Instead of defending the officers being viciously attacked, officials criticize their every move and praise the radical left calling to defund police entirely.

How much more can officers take before they just walk way from a career that they love? Hundreds of officers have already resigned or stepped down from positions within their departments such as riot and swat teams.

The entire special weapons and tactics (SWAT) team of the Hallandale Beach Police Department resigned in response to a city official making “ignorant and inaccurate statements attacking the lawful actions” of the police, and the Police Chief Sonia Quinones “taking a knee in solidarity” with that official and political activists.

Fifty-seven members of the Buffalo Police Department’s Emergency Response Team resigned from the unit after a video of an incident during a protest drew widespread condemnation. One officer explained, “We quit because our union said [they] aren’t legally backing us anymore. So why would we stand on a line for the City with no legal backing if something [were to] happen?”

Since the protests and riots are still on-going, it’s inevitable that more police officers will be hurt in the line of duty and more will resign especially when some of these officers’ salaries barely cover basic family expenses.  Needless to say, none of them are in it for the money.

To make matters worse, officers involved in the injury or death of a perpetrator during an arrest are now “guilty until proven innocent.”  For those that may not know, this is backwards.

A person accused of a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. This protection comes from the due process guarantees in the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments of the U.S. Constitution.

The most recent example of this is the firing of Officer Garrett Rolfe, a six-year veteran of the Atlanta Police Department. Rolfe was involved in the fatal shooting of Rayshard Brooks, who was passed out drunk in a fast food drive through. After Brooks failed the field sobriety test, he resisted arrest and attacked Officer Rolfe and the other responding officer.

During the attack, Brooks stole a taser from one of the officers and tried to shoot Rolfe with a taser as he fled the scene. The officer discharged his weapon and mortally wounded Brooks. Officer Rolfe was fired and is now being called a murderer. I thought he was innocent until proven guilty. Do police officers not have the same constitutional rights as everyone else?

Now, here’s a very serious question…if police are defunded, who will we call to protect us?

Social workers?  Despite the suggestion, social workers are already overwhelmed by their jobs. They don’t need anything else added to their plates plus they aren’t trained like police officers to handle violent criminals in emergency situations.

Radical left activists? Sure, let’s ask them to drop their megaphones and stop shouting obscenities at police long enough to chat peacefully with a deranged lunatic attacking people on the subway or voluntarily go into a domestic violence situation to help the victim.

Anti-police celebrities? Maybe they can send their heavily armed security when someone dials 911, because you know they aren’t leaving their multi-million dollar compounds in gated communities.

Democrat politicians? Hey Nancy Pelosi, why don’t you offer some of your expensive ice cream to the guy that just robbed the local convenience store and killed the owner?  I’m sure that will make him realize what he just did was heinous and ask for forgiveness.

Obviously, all of these suggestions were in jest, but really WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO AND WHO ARE WE GOING TO CALL?

Will America turn into the Wild West where heavily armed citizens protect themselves and their families?  Possibly, but there’s a problem with that…

The radical left not only wants to defund the police, but they also want to strip us of our second amendment rights. Taking away the people that protect us and the ability for us to protect ourselves!

Now, this whole “Defund the Police” movement just got a lot worse, huh?

What’s the resolution?  Like President Trump said “law and order.” Governors and other officials sitting back and watching their cities burn to the ground can’t continue to happen. Violent riots and protests must be stopped even if it takes military intervention.

Yes, I said VIOLENT riots and protests…not peaceful protests. As Americans, we do have the right to protest “peacefully.”

As I previously stated, it’s impossible to choose to either Defund the police or Defend ALL police.  Ultimately, Americans are being called to make a choice as to which side we will stand with…

Radical left socialists trying to destroy America no matter the cost? Or…

American Patriots that love this country and are willing to fight to keep it safe?

For those of you reading this saying, “I’m more of a middle of the road person that doesn’t get involved in politics or share my opinion on social issues.”

Well, then you might as well just walk right over to the side of the radical left socialists, because they are going to steamroll you and take everything you have with that mindset. No more sitting on the fence my friend!

For all of the hard-working police officers that leave their families to protect ours every single day, I have something to say…

THANK YOU! We need you, and we will fight for you. Those that hate you are much louder than those that believe in you right now, but we are here and our voice will be heard. We stand with you.

I believe that “Faith Stands and Fear Runs” so I wanted to share this Police Officer’s Prayer with you to help you face the hard days ahead…

Lord I ask for courage

Courage to face and
Conquer my own fears…

Courage to take me
Where others will not go…

I ask for strength
Strength of body to protect others
And strength of spirit to lead others…

I ask for dedication
Dedication to my job, to do it well
Dedication to my community
To keep it safe…

Give me Lord, concern
For others who trust me
And compassion for those who need me…

And please Lord
Through it all
Be at my side…
