The White House released a special Rosh Hashanah message from President Trump recognizing the Jewish New Year and vowing to continue to strive for peace in the Middle East.

“The First Lady and I wish our Jewish brothers and sisters Shana Tova and hope the millions observing this sacred day in America and around the world have a blessed start to the High Holy Days.”

Trump went on to say, “This year’s High Holy Days come with a sense of optimism for the people of Israel, as my Administration continues to make great strides in securing a more stable, prosperous, and peaceful Middle East region.”

Earlier in the week, two Arab nations sent high-level officials to the White House for the signing of a substantive diplomatic agreement with Israel.

This was the formalizing of the United Arab Emirates diplomatic agreement with Israel last month and the start of Bahrain’s diplomatic agreement with Israel.

In addition to bilateral agreements between Bahrain and Israel as well as the UAE and Israel, the three MIddle East nations signed a three-part deal with each other. Trump signed his name as a witness to the deals.

Bahrani Foreign Minister Abdullatif al-Zayani signed the statement declaring normalizing of relations, that read, in part:

“The parties discussed their shared commitment to advancing peace and security in the Middle East stressing the importance of embracing the vision of the Abraham Accords, widening the circle of peace, recognizing each State’s right to sovereignty and to live in peace and security, and continuing the efforts to achieve a just, comprehensive, and enduring resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.”

Israel and Bahrain plan to have large-scale exchange and trade in tourism, telecommunications, technology, energy, healthcare, ecology, direct flights and culture.

The small island nation of Bahrain is known for its tourism and petroleum refinery. It is one of the few Middle Eastern nations where official policy allows for relative freedom and tolerance of the Christian minority. The monarch-approved groundbreaking of a massive, regional Catholic Cathedral began in 2018.

Emirati Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahya publicly thanked Israeli leader Netanyahu for halting his annexation of the WestBank.

Trump advisor Jared Kushner confirmed that the UAE purchase of the newest F-35 jets from the US was possible: a bargaining chip loudly and repeatedly mentioned in media coverage of the peace deal. Possible Bahraini access to ISraeli defense products and equipment has also been noted.

Both Bahraini and Emerati officials present mentioned their hope for the establishment, in time, of a Palestinian state.

The Palestinian response to the diplomacy deal involving Israel, UAE and Bahrain was the launching of rockets into Israel and small street demonstrations descrying and defaming the leaders of the countries.

White House ceremony attendee, former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair remarked “in time, the Palestinian people will understand that it is only by radically changing strategy that the legitimate aspirations for a viable Palestinian state can be realized.”

The ceremony and the deal mark the continuation of Trump Middle East policy centered on two nations: Israel, often called the only de facto democracy in the region; and Iran, the regional powerhouse and seat of the ancient Persian empire.

Trump has circumvented the stalwart Palestinian leadership and leveraged concerns about imperialist aims of Iran. He noted several other nearby nations are in talks for similar diplomatic agreements and hinted at possible agreement talks with Iran itself.
