President Donald J. Trump has secured the first agreement to normalize relations between Israel and a major Arab country in decades.
The UAE, United Arab Emirates, has announced the establishment of international ties with the state of Israel. A majority of nations in the Middle East do not recognize Israel as a sovereign nation and only three Arab nations fully recognize Israel as of 2020.
Benjamin Netanyahu, President Trump and UAE leadership had brokered a deal by phone that the President announced on Twitter. The document posted on @realDonaldTrump wrote that considerable plans for formalizing this partnership were in the offing:
“Delegations from Israel and the United Arab Emirates will meet in the coming weeks to sign bilateral agreements regarding investment, tourism, direct flights, security, telecommunications, technology, energy, healthcare, culture, the environment, the establishment of reciprocal embassies, and other areas of mutual benefit.”

Benjamin Netanyahu has agreed to temporarily halt actions for Israeli annexing of certain West Bank lands; a long-term dispute among the Israeli and Arab worlds.
The de facto leader of the semi-autonomous collective of princedoms or emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, negotiated on behalf of the nation. The deal will temporarily adjust aims of Trump’s Vision for Peace. The president’s close adviser Jared Kushner noted the new spirit of innovation in approaching long-term problems.
Israeli and Arab peace being perhaps the longest term standing problem in the region. The President named the deal the Abraham Accord, a symbol of
the figure historical to Islam, Judaism and Christianity.
UAE’s State Minister of Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash indicated a tolerant reaction: “Israel’s commitment to stop the annexation of Palestinian lands, which will preserve the two-state solution.” A two-state solution is the hopeful goal despite immediate and expected reactions against this new UAE-Israeli deal from Palestinian figures.
UAE is home to some of the wealthiest cities on earth. Dubai boasts a number of superlative enterprises as a billion-dollar hotel on a man-made island as well as an indoor ski resort. Abu Dhabi is essentially the administrative center of UAE but also boasts a world-leading medical community. Israel’s scientific and technological advances are well-known within the international community as well.
International observers have noted the increasing threat of Iranian aggression in the Middle East is quickly causing a less dogmatic approach among Middle Eastern countries towards tensions with the state of Israel.
“Our vision is one of peace, security, and prosperity—in this region, and in the world. Our goal is a coalition of nations who share the aim of stamping out extremism and providing our children a hopeful future that does honor to God.” – President Donald J. Trump
